Laura attended the University of Kentucky, completing her degree in social work in 1996. She has been a fully licensed clinician in NC since 2001. She achieved her M-Div degree in pastoral counseling and theological studies in 1988.

Laura has published over 30 books. Her expertise in bereavement, social and emotional learning, parenting, and emotional literacy have been captured in both fiction and nonfiction for children, parents and professionals.

I have worked in a variety of settings including community based organizations, hospitals, outpatient and inpatient clinics, in home settings, nursing homes and retirement communities, churches, corporations, and non-profit agencies.  My practice has included individual, couple, family and group work with all ages. I have lead therapy groups, parenting classes, and led public and professional trainings on many topics.  I have worked with some amazing people who have taught me much about the diversity of life and the many challenges we face as humans.
